Add Color To Your Diet

Adding color to your diet is both fun and nutritious! This July 4 you can celebrate in colorful style by easily modifying one of our recipes which already calls for red (cranberries) and white (white chocolate). With the addition of fresh or frozen blueberries, you have a delightfully attractive, tasty, and antioxidant-rich treat.
Make our featured recipe, White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies, with the addition of blueberries for a Red, White, and Blue dessert!
To go all-out with your colors, first enjoy a meal that also showcase Red, White, and Blue. You can’t help but feel festive!
Red: Tomatoes, strawberries, red apples, braised red cabbage, and roasted or pickled beets can add great color to any number of meals. Even organically grown rose or hibiscus flowers are edible.
White: Potato salad, pasta with a creamy sauce, or peeled summer squash roll-ups make a hearty dish.
Blue: Blue (or purple) potatoes and carrots, blue corn, borage flowers, some grapes, and the edible mushroom indigo milk cap.
If your grocery store doesn’t carry some of these foods, you may be able to find them at your local farmer’s market, or you can request your grocer to bring them in, at least seasonally.
Remember, Mom’s Modern Mixes is a vegan, gluten free, nut free brand, so you won’t have to worry about food allergens. So what are you waiting for? Go get your bag of Cookie Master Mix and bake up some memories right now!
